In my heart is vengeance
Boiling till my blood will pause
Poverty cooks for my people,
It shelters them in depression,
They marvel at their own condition,
Not with joy but as man-made cripples
Daily they moan on the streets,
Their cries lost in the hustle of life
Their innermost being is devil’s treat!
Responsibilities has changed hands,
Children fend for their families,
They are parents at infancy
A situation bomb is in our presence exploding!
Child rape champions in every corner
Fathers plucking unripe cherries,
Innocent lives set on motion of doom!
Domestic violence waves
Stand high over us,
‘Jungle justice’ has taken over
Our mental joystick!
Redirected anger towards
Our leadership is our portion!
Each year, they sing to our masqueraded brains
They shallow our thoughts with their peacocky glibness
We salute them on religious sentiments
We elect them on ethnic misconceptions
We query not their financial status quo
Instead we slave integrity unjustly for their egos
We turn around to kill ourselves,
We cry and also console one another,
Meanwhile our enemy is enjoying
Wealth’s care and warmth!
We have more than a name to protect
When our people suffer,
It is our duty to pledge
Our knowledge of light
Pledge - doing the right thing,
Else our children will not curse us,
They will not pray for us!
They will kill us!
